YouTube redesigned its website and made it visible to users today. Google's video sharing website has introduced new design in January and has been developing it since that time. The new design serves two purposes. The first one is that the new interface is simpler and cleaner and therefore more friendly for the user. The second aim is to convince people to watch more videos, stay longer and potentially never leave.
YouTube has made couple changes. The description to the video is now hidden and can be brought up with a click on arrow under the video, so it also changed position. There is also a smart "next up" list that suggests videos by your search results and puts them on the playlist. Another change is that there is now a new rating system. The old 5 star rating system has been replaced with the new "like" and "don't like". Google says that the reason of this change was that users used to give only 5 stars or 1 star rating, so they went from hatred to love. Also subscribe button can be found easier because it is on the top of video.
There is more little changes and I find all of them really useful. In my opinion, Google's one year effort isn't wasted. because the new site maybe doesn't look much differently, but it is much more functional and practical.
