Today, SanDisk announced a new microSDHC memory card of enormous capacity of 32GB, twice larger than currently available. MicroSD cards are used mainly in smartphones, because of their size (these cards are about the size of a dime and are 1mm thick).
Equipping microSD card with so much memory was possible thank to new technology. SanDisk used 32 nm (nanometer) X3 (3-bit-per-cell) production process and was able to store 8 memory chips inside each of 4 GB capacity.
Unfortunately, the new product is very expensive: it costs $200.
In my opinion, that's too much memory in these small cards. I had a lot of experience with microSD cards and I know that writing and reading speeds are very low therefore it takes a long while to store something on the card, especially, when your copying big files. I think these cards won't gain much popularity, partly because of their high price.
