New iPhone Could End AT&T's U.S. Monopoly

Apple wants to release a new version of iPhone, but not for an exclusive current carrier, AT&T. The company plans to change the carrier from AT&T to Verizon, which offers faster network, CDMA, while AT&T uses older one, GSM.
AT&T thanks to Apple's iPhone has been a leader on smartphones market, having 43% of the market. Verizon has 23% and I think that cooperation with Apple will surely increases Verizon's sales and position on the market. In the video included to the article, Julia Angwin says that the probable reason why Apple wants Verizon to be selling the iPhone, because AT&T's network "has been overwhelmed by the usage of iPhone." There have been many complains on the network, because the calls are dropped, data lost, Internet connection slow.
Apple also plans to release a new version of iPhone that is going to be thinner and have faster processor. However, both informations haven't been officially confirmed and different dates are given when the probable releases will happen.
In my opinion, Apple's offer for Verizon will be a good idea, because it introduces some freedom to the smartphone market. As the title says it can be the end of AT&T's monopoly, which is beneficial for customers, because they will be able to chose the operator themselves. Especially that AT&T offers poor service, a change for faster carrier will again help people. This is also very profitable for Verizon, which will surely gain customers very fast and become a serious rival for AT&T.
