On Friday, Nvidia presented at the PAX East gaming festival in Boston, Massachusetts two new graphic cards from GTX series. GTX 470 and GTX 480 work on company's new Fermi architecture. New graphic cards are supposed to bring the best gaming and multimedia experience.
The GTX 480 with its 480 processing cores (the GTX 470 has 448 cores) is probably the fastest card available on the market. It has very similar test results as the fastest ATI Radeon HD 5870 currently available. The GTX 480 is made especially for gaming. Nvidia equipped the new chip with some features like the native support for DirectX 11, that are going to boost up the performance even more. Unluckily, Nvidia's new product has one disadvantage. It needs a lot of power which produces heat and heat results in noisy work of cooling fans.
New graphic cards will be available in April; GTX 480 for $499 and GTX 470 for $349.

In my opinion, these cards are really top models and they will easily find popularity among gamers. As we see in the test results Nvidia's card can compete with ATI graphic cards and even outperform them. However, I think that the company should work on the heating problem. It seems like a serious issue even though the card automatically turns off when the temperature is too high. Also better colling may slightly improve performance.
