Energy Scoreboards, Designed for the Home

Saving energy and money is becoming more significant. Companies are inventing new devices that can control electricity usage inside the house. Utilities are introducing smart meters that monitor electricity cost, including discounts for off-peak hours. However, these innovation are not very popular yet.
Intel invented a prototype that gathers information about energy used in the whole house in every outlet. It controls outles wirelessly by turning the power in the outlet off or on. The device looks like a thin panel with touch screen, and it can be hung on the wall. It also features video camera, so that family members can leave video messages for each other, and it is capable of running different applications. For example to track packages or to check weather and traffic.
Intel refuses to offer its devices to single consumers. It will rather co-operate with manufactures that will use only company's processors and design.
Saving energy is becoming important for our environment, and by making demand for energy smaller the climate benefits, because the global warming is losing its speed. What may be encouraging for consumers are personal benefits, and what I mean is money savings. Then there are two profits for customers wallets and for environment. Very soon this devices will appear in many houses.
