First AT&T Android cellphone on the way

AT&T will start selling its first mobile phone with Android operating system, the new Motorola Backflip smartphone. The company is the last wireless carrier in the US to introduce Android device in its offer. The phone will available on March 7 for $100 with a two-year contract.
Motorola Backflip features a 3.1 inch touchsreen, a full QWERTY keypad that is usable when the phone is open, and 5.0 megapixels digital camera. It can also be used as a bedside alarm clock, digital photo frame, or video viewer, when flipped and tilted about 45 degrees. The homescreen has three key widgets, that give access to happenings (tweets and status updates on social networinkg sites) set your status and messages.
It has also Internet access by Wi-Fi and 3G. There are more than 20,000 apps available in the Android Market.
The company plans to introduce four additional Android devices, two Palm devices, and smartphones with new Microsoft's operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series. I think AT&T is enriching its phones offer in case it loses exlusive right to sell Apple's iPhones. On the other hand, Android phones are very good alternative for iPhone.
