Utilities are introducing smart meters that monitor electricity cost, including discounts for off-peak hours. However, these innovation are not very popular yet.

Apple's iTunes Store Serves up 10 Billionth Song


Today Apple's iTunes Store sold 10 billionth song to a lucky Johny Cash fan from Georgia. He will receive a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod Touch and an Apple Time Capsule. It has been about 6 years and 10 months since the iTunes Store opened and the virtual store's resources are growing and it is gaining popularity every day.

Nintendo DSi XL Will Hit Stores March 28



Today, in San Francisco at Nintendo's first quarter media summit, the company oficially introduced its new portable video gaming console, DSi XL. One of its main features are 93% bigger screens than the previous model, which allow much better gaming experience. The company also presented some statistics on its performance and achievements in 2009.

Computers Turn Flat Photos into 3-D Buildings


Researchers at the University of Washington and Cornell University are developing a project that creates three-dimensional models from many flat two-dimensional pictures. The new system is called PhotoCity and its aim is to produce 3D renderings of buildings and potentially even entire cities.

Sony Unveils Small, Stylish Interchangeable-Lens Concept Camera


Today, at PMA 2010 in Anaheim, California, Sony presented a new model of a compact camera with interchangeable lenses. Despite its small size the camera features APS-C sensor (24mm x 16mm), has the same Alpha blending as Sony's DSLR cameras, and is capable of capturing HD videos.

First AT&T Android cellphone on the way


AT&T will start selling its first mobile phone with Android operating system, the new Motorola Backflip smartphone. The company is the last wireless carrier in the US to introduce Android device in its offer. The phone will available on March 7 for $100 with a two-year contract.

Early this morning, astronauts from space shuttle Endeavour have installed a cupola modul and opened its windows to the International space station. The modul is supposed to provide additional room for the crew and the life-support systems.

FCC Plans for 100M Bps to 100 Million Households


On Tuesday, Julius Genachowski, Federal Communications Commission Chairman in his speech before the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commisioners introduced a plan national broadband plan. The plan includes a goal to bring 100 megabit per second Internet service to over 100 million households by 2020.

Plans unveiled for world's largest yacht


Emocean Yacht Design company presented a project of the largest yacht in the world. The yacht will have an enormous length of 200 meters (656 feet) which is equal to two football pitches. It will be longer than world's current biggest private yacht, "Eclipse".

Canon Launches New Rebel DSLR, Point-and-Shoots


On Monday, Canon presented a new line of point-and-shoot cameras including the new D-SLR camera, EOS Rebel T2i. The line is aimed at diferent types of customers, but has one feature in common; all of the cameras have new SD cards memoey cards standard: SDXC that is capable of storing 2 terabytes of data (2000 GB).

Space Shuttle Launch Delayed by Thick Clouds

Endeavour's, NASA space shuttle, start had to be postponed due to thick layer of clouds. The launch was planned at 4:39 local time at Florida, but it is slated at 4:14 on Monday.
Six astronauts were ready to launch strapped in their seats on board, but unluckily 600 ft thick layer of clouds came. The weather forecast for Monday predicts 60% chance for good weather.

Intel Preparing Six-core Chips for Desktops, Servers


 Intel is planing to release a new six-core chip, called Gulftown mainly for servers, but also high-end desktops. The company hopes to publish its product in the first half of this year.
The chip has company's latest achievement, Westmere architecture, which enables better performance and higher power efficiency.

Will NASA ever return to the moon?

 The future of NASA's space travels is uncertain after Barrack Obama published new budget for 2011, that eliminates NASA'a project - Constellation.
Constellation is a program that was aimed to take humans back to the moon by 2020. The cancelation of this project leaves many open questions. NASA will not be able to build its own rockets, but rather pay private companies to develop rocket technology.
